D-Cote – Heavyweight Paperboard Packaging

Heavyweight Paperboard Packaging
Our Heavyweight Specialty
D-Cote is a 100% recycled double clay coated board designed with extra strength and density for the most demanding heavyweight packaging applications. No one else can make this board with the strength we deliver. D-Cote is designed to offer a 100% recycled boxboard alternative with superior graphics performance to microflute applications. It provides converters with greater strength per caliper compared to other recycled boards, and superior press performance when compared against microflute. D-Cote heavyweight carton packaging is most commonly used in detergent, hardware, multi-packs and food packaging. D-Cote is available with Grade II or Grade V sizing; in rolls or sheets in 600 um/24 pt to 850 um/34 pt.

Product Description
D-Cote is manufactured from 100% post-use recycled waste paper fibres. Approximately 65% of this post-use waste paper is post-consumer material and 35% is industrial scrap.

D-Cote features a double clay coated surface and a kraft back liner for heavyweight folding carton applications. D-Cote is an ideal substrate for a wide range of consumer packaging applications where a kraft coloured back liner is appropriate. D-Cote can be converted into a range of end uses. The most common include consumer packaging for food and detergent packaging, hardware and applications where a more rigid boxboard is required. D-Cote, with Grade II (1,200 seconds) or Grade V (3,000 seconds), sizing is an ideal substrate for frozen food packaging applications.

D-Cote is a denser, stiffer, brighter and higher plybond grade of boxboard. These positive measures of boxboard, verified by the Recycled Paperboard Technical Association (RPTA), differentiate D-Cote in the market.

D-Cote is in compliance for direct food contact under the regulatory frameworks of both the US Federal Food and Drug Administration Act (FDA) and the California EPA Proposition 65. It also complies with the provisions of the model state law, CONEG, for heavy metal content. Metal detection capabilities to a particle size of 1.0 mm are available on sheeted stock.

Product Structure
D-Cote is a multi-ply sheet with a double clay coating applied over a top liner of pulp substitute fibres (e.g., recycled computer printout paper, sorted office waste paper) with a recycled filler fibre base. The filler fibre consists of double lined kraft, old corrugated cartons, boxboard and newsprint. D-Cote can also be produced with an application of a special biodegradable sizing agent to provide moisture resistance to the boxboard.
