Strathcote – Folding Clay Coated Paperboard
 |
 |
Our Flagship Brand
Strathcote is a 100% recycled double clay coated board designed for folding paperboard carton applications. Dollar for dollar, tonne for tonne, Strathcote is denser, brighter, stiffer and has higher plybond strength than the competition.
Strathcote has a lighter grey back liner than many other North American suppliers, which extends its suitability for packaging applications.
It can be used for food product packaging – both frozen and dry – multi-packs, general household goods, clothing, gift boxes, hardware and blister packaging.
Available with Grade II or Grade V sizing, Strathcote is exceptionally well suited for frozen food packaging applications and multi-pack beverage containers. Strathcote is available in rolls or sheets from 450 um/18 pt to 800 um/32 pt.

Product Description
Strathcote is manufactured from 100% post-use recycled waste paper fibres. Approximately 65% of this post-use waste paper is post-consumer material and 35% is industrial scrap.
Strathcote features a double clay coated surface and a light grey back liner for folding box board packaging. Strathcote is an ideal substrate for a wide range of consumer packaging applications where the appearance of the back liner is important. Strathcote can be converted into a range of end uses, the most common being: food and general household packaging, clothing, gift boxes, hardware and blister packaging. Available with Grade II (1,200 seconds) or Grade V (3,000 seconds) sizing, it is an ideal substrate for frozen food packaging applications or multi-pack beverage packaging.
Strathcote is a denser, stiffer, brighter and higher plybond grade of box board. Verified by the Recycled Paperboard Technical Association (RPTA), these positive measures differentiate Strathcote in the market.
Strathcote is in compliance for direct food contact under the regulatory frameworks of both the US Federal Food and Drug Administration Act (FDA) and the California EPA Proposition 65. Strathcote also complies with the provisions of the model state law, CONEG, for heavy metal content. Metal detection capabilities to a particle size of 1.0 mm are available on sheeted stock.
Product Structure
Strathcote is a multi-ply sheet with a double clay coating applied over a top liner of recycled pulp substitute fibres (e.g., computer printout paper, sorted office waste paper) with a recycled filler fibre base. The filler fibre consists of double lined kraft, old corrugated cartons, boxboard and newsprint. In addition, Strathcote can be produced with an application of a special biodegradable sizing agent to provide moisture resistance to the boxboard.
